Legal Information for Marriages Non-Resident Couples To obtain your marriage license, you must go to the Town Office in the town you plan to be wed. For example, if you plan to marry on Southport island, the license must be from Southport - not Boothbay Harbor - and you may only marry on Southport Island. This "place of ceremony" restriction is only applicable for couples who are non-residents. It does not matter whether you have a family in the town - if the couple to be married are non-residents, the restriction applies. The license id "good" for 90 days. There is a 3-day waiting period (excluding weekends and holidays) included in the 90 days (so, technically, you have 87 days after obtaining your license to marry). The fee for your license is $20 ($10 per person). If either party has been married before, a sealed and certified copy of the divorce decree (or, if widowed, death certificate) must be presented. A waiver of the waiting period is possible, depending on circumstances, by visiting the Judge of Probate in the neighboring town of Wiscasset (approximately 10 miles). And, good news, the state of Maine does not require a blood test. Maine Resident Couples To obtain your marriage license, both bride and groom must go to the Town Office in the town in which they live. For example, if the groom lives in Boothbay and the bride lives in Boothbay Harbor, they will have two licenses - one from Boothbay and the other from Boothbay Harbor. The fee is $10 for each license - totaling the same $20 fee as for non-residents. The 3-day waiting period, waiver possibilities and need for proof of divorce or widowhood applies here as well. The only difference for resident couples is this: you may marry anywhere in the state during the 90 day period and you do not have to marry in the town which the license(s) were obtained. Menu Packages The Ocean Point Inn wedding/function package features a choice of Buffet Dinner, Sit Down Dinner or Hors d'Oeuvres Reception. Our wedding/function packages begin at $40.00 per person. Although we recommend a custom-tailored menu and personalized presentation, the following selections are provided as examples of our chefs' suggestions: Buffet Dinner Hors d'Oeuvres selection of local chilled seafood, shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon pate, smoked mussels. Salad of fresh mixed greens with raspberry dressing. Entrees of freshly-prepared crab stuffed haddock with lobster sauce, roast top sirloin of beef au jus. Mix of steamed julienne vegetables, roasted red potatoes, wild rice pilaf, and hot assorted rolls with butter. Dessert specialties Coffee, hot or iced tea, lemonade. Sit Down Dinner Cup of seafood chowder. Salad of fresh mixed greens with choice of blue cheese or raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Hot assorted rolls with butter. Entree choice of roast tenderloin with béarnaise, grilled swordfish with fresh pineapple salsa or chicken marsala. Julienne of steamed vegetables, roasted red potato, wild rice pilaf. Dessert selection. Coffee, hot or iced tea, lemonade Hors d'Oeuvres Reception Seafood and raw bar station, iced shrimp cocktail, hand-shucked oysters, assorted smoked seafood and pates. Alcoholic beverage options include a full cash bar or prepaid bar, fine wines, champagne toasts, liquors, and specialty drinks. Prices do not include 7% sales tax and 18% service charge. Accommodations Packages Ocean Point Inn is known for its wide variety of accommodations. Among the property's 61 rooms are the 14 room Farmhouse Motel near the outdoor swimming pool, the 10 room two story Lodge with wrap-around porch opposite the Ocean Point Pier, and the five second floor main Inn rooms with picture window ocean view. And for any of your Guests who are considering a longer term stay in conjunction with their "Wedding Stay" we have some wonderful cottage options. All of our Rooms come equipped with remote controlled cable TV, phones, mini-refrigerators, electric heat, and full private bath. Many units are also equipped with air-conditioning. Rooms are positioned with either a direct ocean view or a view from an angle; most rooms have either a private or common porch deck to sit on. Please note that many of our rooms are non-smoking. Since the Main Inn is where the Wedding Reception will take place, we do require the five rooms in the Inn be reserved as part of the two night 20 room requirement negotiable. In addition to these required rooms, we are happy to offer a full choice of our other "non-cottage accommodations" provided reservations are sufficiently in advance. All packages are offered on a limited basis and subject to availability. There are no discounts on package prices. A deposit in the amount of one-half the total package price is required to secure a reservation. The deposit will be credited to the respective Guest's account. Deposits are refundable in the event of cancellation only if we are notified at least 7 days prior to the date of confirmed arrival. Refunds on deposits are subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee.
